Bored In Lockdown? Try These

Lockdown is a situation that we've never been in before and the world is pulling together as we try to get through the coronavirus crisis. As many of us have been self isolating and some working from home it means we've lots of time indoors and hence we can easily get bored.

Here is at least 5 ideas of what you can do to tackle boredom while on lockdown.

Revive your chef skills or try a new recipe: Believe me, it's an awesome experience. Take charge  of the kitchen and toss up something yummy!

Update your playlist:
Tune in to tune out and move into the groove while doing your chores. Have a notebook? Start writing some lyrics as well and ride on an instrumental.

Refresh your mind with a game:  It could be playing cards,FIFA or League of Legends, the possibilities are endless. Bring your family together and drive away the boredom!

Meditate: Meditation enables a shift from reactive to responsive living, in which we choose what we dwell on, including our thoughts, experiences, and healing. Maintain calmness  by experimenting with plant-based diets, breathing techniques and  gardening.

Develop a healthy lifestyle: This is the right time to develop a healthy habit and discontinue a bad one. A mobile detox is essential, upgrade your home workouts too. Hula hooping is  also a safe and fun way to burn calories and body fat, improve your balance, strengthen your core muscles, and boost your cardiovascular fitness.

There you have it folks, these are our main five ways to stay out of boredom. Please add more in the comments section below 😉.

My Mom Kept A Garden | Mother's Day Edition

My Mother kept a garden,
a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
that gave my life it’s start.
She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem…
And when the winds and rain came,
she protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew
I’d need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother’s garden.
I am her legacy-
And I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me.

Music, The Ultimate Healer.

Love music? What a question right? Everyone loves music.
Music has in someway or the other to soothe our souls. Music has
served us through a tough time, great times and all times in between.
Think of a moment and imagine there being no music. Impossible I
presume! The element of surprise. The upbeat tempo, the bass and sound
of the keys all tranquil. Hearing the melody and singing along to your
favorite tune. We all have had a book of lyrics where you wrote lyrics
to every single song you heard and liked. And you keep going
back to that book when you're feeling nostalgic and sing every word
as if you wrote the song with the artist. Music speaks to us in a way
that no one else can. It answers unasked questions and leaves you
feeling full of life and light. Music releases endorphins, happy ones.
Do not think of genres. Think MUSIC. Art. Music in all its forms. From
Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Angelique Kidjo, Oliver Mtukudzi, The Chainsmokers to
The Beatles.

The diversity and versatility of it all. Young and old. Men and
women. We have classics and old time favorites. Legends who have
fallen, living and legends in the making. Africa in its purest form has
greatness all over it. When we say Nigeria we already know Fela
Kuti. When South Africa is mentioned immediately we think of the
great Ntate Hugh Masikela, Mama Mariam Makeba and Mama Busi
Mhlongo.

Cheers To The Freaking Weekend!

The weekend is upon us. Thoughts are painting the town red not what's for dinner nor what's on TV?
Weekend nights are the ideal nights to go out because "YOLO".
Amid all the self isolation and "quarantining" many have moved away from their daily routines.
From doing the things that you love to having to get used to doing nothing to actually learning a
few skills during this time. I,myself have picked quite a few new skills. I did my hair, something I
never thought I'd ever do. Moving away from regular stuff to creating new ways of living cooped
up in your home and actually making them work. Many have said they miss the outside but do
they, really? Being indoors is the new normal. We've enjoyed banter and learned that laughter
and the joy it brings is all we need. Rapunzel lived in a castle until her late teenage years. Waiting
for her prince charming in this instance our prince charming is the freedom of being outside
and virus free. We'll get there. Our lifestyles have changed some for the better some not.

Though we've continued with other things that we are used to doing we incorporate some into
our new normal. Exercising at home. Trying a new recipe. Finishing that memoir and creating
more interesting content. The internet is also your friend. During this time we consume a lot of
internet content. This is when we learn and maybe unlearn some other things. Everything is at the click of our fingers. Have you discovered way to make money while sitting at home yet? I bet you have.

Keeping up with the trends, being part of those trends and social media challenges to lighten the mood and somehow be oblivious for a while. Now go on and read that book and learn that new dance move. Be happy and let loose.

Cheers to the freaking weekend.
